How soon can you fly after penile implant surgery?

The answer patients want is a number of days. The answer that keeps them safe is a review by the surgeon who performed the operation.
What the decision depends on
- How the wound looks, and whether swelling is settling as expected.
- Whether your pain is controlled with oral medication.
- Whether you are passing urine normally after any catheter has been removed.
- Your general health, and any thrombosis risk factors.
- The length of the flight and whether you have connections.
How to plan it
Plan your stay as: arrival and preoperative assessment, surgery with one night in hospital, then several days for the wound to settle and for a postoperative review before departure. Build in a margin. Use a flexible ticket if you can, and treat the confirmed departure date as something set in Istanbul rather than at home.
Long-haul specifically
Longer flights mean more time seated and more time away from the surgical team. Discuss any flight over about eight hours specifically, including seating, mobility, thrombosis prevention and pain relief timing.
